Wirehaired Pointing Griffon
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon was developed by Dutch sportsman and hunter Edward Karel Korthals, who lived from 1851 to 1896. The strain Korthals developed was a wirecoated dog of medium size with excellent hunting ability. A dog with the ability to hunt both fur and feathers in almost any climate and almost any terrain. The results of Korthals breeding program were eight specimens that bred true and are considered to be the foundation of this breed.
Over the years the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has earned a reputation as an excellent versatile hunting dog, proficient at upland game, waterfowl and fur.
Because of his close working style in the field and his adaptability in the home (usually at your feet or beside you on the sofa) the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has been dubbed the
"The Gentlemens Gun Dog"
However the Wirehaired Pointing Griffons talents and abilities proved to be even greater over the past 100 years. With many dogs achieving titles in Obedience, Agility and Tracking as well as being certified as Therapy Dogs and Search and Rescue Dogs.
With the purchase of our first Griff in 1994 we began our breeding program in 1998. Our goal is to continue Korthals' vision of a truely versatile hunting dog with excellent conformation and temperment. Dogs that excell in the field, in the ring and in the home.
